Rural Healthcare Group Enters Tennessee Market, Acquires Four Northern Middle Tennessee Primary Care Clinics
November 16, 2022
Nashville, TN – Rural Healthcare Group (RHG) announced today its acquisition of four primary care clinics in the Northern Middle Tennessee market – all to improve access to primary care in Robertson and Cheatham Counties. The clinics are located in Pleasant View, Springfield, Greenbrier, and White House, and have a long history of providing primary care to their surrounding communities.
“Americans living in rural communities have faced a variety of access barriers to high quality, and convenient primary care services,” said RHG founder and CEO, Benson Sloan. “The providers who serve these patients have the odds stacked against them – something we intend to change.”
RHG’s mission is to improve the lives of people living in underserved areas through high-quality primary care. RHG plans to invest significantly in the newly acquired clinics to support the adoption of leading technologies, expansion of services, and improved clinical practices to better serve their communities.
“When clinics in underserved, rural communities thrive, the entire community thrives,” said Sloan. “That’s the sentiment that drives our mission at RHG. We’re looking forward to supporting these clinics’ providers and team members so they can do what they do best – provide exceptional care to their patients.”
“The RHG team has shown tremendous dedication to their mission of empowering providers and improving the accessibility of care in rural communities,” said Chris Michalik, Kinderhook Managing Director. “Kinderhook looks forward to continuing to support the success of RHG’s teams, clinics, and communities served.”
This is RHG’s first follow-on acquisition after its founding this year. In May, RHG acquired Smoky Mountain Urgent Care, a four-location physician-owned primary care provider with locations across Western North Carolina. With RHG’s entrance into Tennessee, RHG now has 8 primary care clinics under its umbrella – exceeding this year’s expansion plans.
“Kinderhook is thrilled that the RHG team has partnered with these Tennessee clinics in their own backyard,” said Matt Bubis, Kinderhook Principal. “The RHG model puts providers and the communities they serve first. We are excited to see the positive impact RHG will have in the Tennessee market and other communities across the state and the U.S.”
“In partnership with Kinderhook, we’re dedicated to building a first-class primary care medical group. I’m thankful for both Kinderhook’s vision for investing in companies seeking to improve the delivery of care, and their strategic support in enabling us to build a company with such high aspirations,” said Sloan.
